The Purrfect Breakfast

For many years breakfast was something I regularly skipped, even though many experts suggest it’s the most important meal of the day. That only worked for so long and over time I would be crashing at work long before lunch time. So I started experimenting with breakfast.

A lot of people go the traditional way when it comes to morning eating… Cereals, toast, fruits, eggs & bacon and sandwiches tend to be on the menu. For me, carbs equal instant snooze button! I don’t follow a gluten free diet, however, one thing is certain: if I have pasta or bread, a couple of minutes later I’m only good for a nap. Forget about feeling energetic or focused.

I tried different combinations of food until I figured out the one best suited for me. One that actually boosts my metabolism and allows me to tackle each day’s challenges head on.

My Perfect Breakfast Combo

So after successfully completing my Good Morning Rituals I move on to preparing my breakfast which usually consists of a mix of fruits and proteins. I find this combo light enough and don’t normally overeat in the morning. Some of my concoctions include: Grapes & Cold Cuts or Smoked Salmon & Apple Chunks. Slices of fresh cheese go great with grapes or any other fruit really. Some days, I skip the protein altogether but consume more fruits and love to add a few spoons of raw honey for an extra boost of energy.

To switch it up a little, some mornings I turn to vegetables and prepare a salad to which I add 1 or 2 cooked eggs, slices of cheese or chunks of organic ham. I also enjoy simple Greek salad with Feta cheese.

There’s practically no prep time involved in my breakfast combos except for the occasional fruit/veggie slicing :p

Here are a few more fruit combos that have helped me start the day right:

So much joy in those bowls!!

Keep in mind that fruits tend to be laced with chemicals so if they don’t have anything to peel, you’re safer going organic.

How about you, what’s in your breakfast bowl?
