Healthy Eats On Instagram : My Top Picks

They say that an imagine is worth a thousand words! I tend to agree. In today’s busy world eating healthy is definitely a lifestyle. It’s a choice that takes effort in terms of selecting the right foods and preparing them the right way, but it comes with Oh So Many rewards.

While most people know how to chop up a salad or boil a pot of pasta, we don’t always know which combinations go best together, we might not be aware of the nutritional benefits of certain foods, or simply lack inspiration when it comes to cooking on certain days.

Sometimes all it takes is a little help from your friends!  For me, it literally takes 30 seconds browsing my Instagram news feed for instant inspiration and often a bit of involuntary drooling. Watching mouthwatering dishes prepared by people I follow based on their healthy choices not only awakens my creativity but also fuels my passion and motivates me to keep spicing things up. And if that wasn’t enough, it’s also a wonderful way to connect and exchange tips & recipes with fellow clean eaters.

Hope you enjoy the list and that you will be as inspired as I am 🙂Read More »

A Healthy Time Out

As you might have noticed, it’s been a little while since my last post. This is not due to lack of inspiration or writer’s block. On the contrary, this is due to a voluntary time out. Regardless of our life situations, we all spend way too much time online these days connected to cyberspace as opposed to being connected to the land and each other. We’re online at work, at home and via mobile on the go. I truly believe that once in a while we need to just disconnect and replenish the old fashion way!

Cool As A Cucumber

fresh-garlic-and-dill-pickles-cucumbers-cut-2

Now that Summer is just around the corner and that the temperature is rising (at least in the Northern Hemisphere), I find myself craving hydration and looking for lighter dishes to prepare. Don’t get me wrong, I am absolutely ecstatic about the prolonged hours of sun and all the happiness that comes along with beautiful warm weather. I just need a lot more freshness than usual and I’m assuming that you might as well. What better occasion to introduce you to one of my favorite Summer Salads?

It takes less than 10 minutes to prepare and can be an amazing side dish to pretty much any meal as much as a healthy snack you can turn to at the first sign of cravings or dehydration 🙂 Read More »

What do you think?

power-of-gratitude-

I’m still new to blogging and so far it’s been a blast, thanks to YOU the readers!! On this beautiful day, while I’m preparing to go to the park and Foster My Inner Child as well as perform some much-needed Grounding, I just wanted to share my gratitude with everyone that has stopped by, read, liked, commented, followed & supported me  on this journey over the past few weeks. THANK YOU!

I also wanted to let you all know that I plan to post a series of healthy recipes over the next few weeks… I mean, that’s what Joy In A Bowl is primarily about. Along with other healthy inspirations that bring me joy, outside of a bowl 🙂

So as I truly value your feedback, I wanted to ask you, the readers, which recipes you’d like me to share. I post daily on Instagram and it already features a collection of meals and dishes I love to prepare. I invite you to look through my little collection and nominate what you would like to see featured here first. It will give me a great perspective on the order of my upcoming posts.

Love ❤

A Healthy Alternative to Nutella You’ll Go Nuts For

While Nutella’s been a success among children and adults since the 1960’s all around the world due to its creamy hazelnut chocolate taste, sadly it’s not as nutritious as its makers would like you to think it is. To the contrary, it features various red flags that shouldn’t be ignored, especially if you’re seeking a healthy clean diet. The good news is that everyone can now enjoy the same authentic taste while giving up the unhealthy ingredients!Read More »

Easy Kitchen Hack To Save You Cooking Time

Whether you’re a homemaker or a working gal (or fella), one thing is certain; if you eat healthy, if you have little ones to feed or if you simply just eat 3+ times a day, you must spend quite a bit of time in the kitchen. And wouldn’t you agree that every time you get your mind set on a recipe or decide to just wing it and create something original, there’s at least 10-20 minutes prep time for washing and cutting veggies, preparing seasoning, etc.?

Now what if I told you that by adopting a simple habit you could save that time or at least cut it by half every time you cook. Doesn’t that sound appealing?Read More »

Kelp Noodles: How To Prepare & Enjoy This Super Food

I’m crazy about all things “Noodle”. Asian cuisine has long been at the top of my culinary inspiration. I absolutely adore noodle dishes, exotic vegetables, different textures and colors as well as the decadent spices present in most Asian meals. However, since I began avoiding MSG at all cost, my repertoire of Asian restaurants where I used to be a regular  diminished significantly. I truly believe in clean eating so I set out to find healthy alternatives to my favorites.

A couple of years back I tasted Korean Kelp Noodles for the first time and instantly fell in love. Since then, I’ve found local supplies and experimented with a variety of dishes featuring this tasty super food. Everything from fresh noodle salads to elaborate Kelp Noodle Stir Fries. I have to admit that I prefer them cooked so I most often use them in my Asian Fusion soups, stir fries and sautées.

What I’ve made so far 🙂

Along with being a great gluten-free substitute for pasta, Kelp Noodles are also Fat Free! One of my favorite Alkaline foods, kelp provides many health benefits in both supplement and comestible forms. Check out Kelp Benefits: Health From The Sea for more details on all it has to offer.Read More »

Eat Once, Regrow For Ever

People often ask me if buying Organic and mostly clean healthy food costs me an arm and a leg. And while at regular supermarkets Organic food does cost more, it is not necessarily the case in specialty stores or giants like Costco. Remember, the more demand there is for a product the more supply there will be. Same goes for Organic and healthy food. As people continue to shift towards what’s good for them, the industry will have no choice but to follow and adjust. This means better prices as well.

In the meantime, there are definitely steps you can take to save money while improving your health & well-being, which you might actually greatly enjoy! I know I do.

The Beauty Of Regrowing Your Fruits & Veggies

Last year I was stunned when my mom showed me all the vegetables she grew on her terrace. It was literally a garden full of fresh produce such as cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, sweet potatoes, bell peppers, celery, carrots, delicious herbs, etc. Pretty much a small grocery store section worth of delicious organic produce ready for the picking.Read More »

Dinner & The Golden Ratio

Dinnertime is probably when I have my most sustainable meal of the day. At this stage “all you can eat” applies so I make sure to pack my bowl with nutritious contents that feed every cell in my body. Over the years, I’ve figured out a golden ratio that seems to have the most positive effect on my digestion, weight, energy levels and overall satisfaction! Read More »
